Destiny 2 adds matchmaking to raid, Nightfall, and Trials

sequel is taking an inclusive approach to team events through the addition of clans, as well as a Guided Games, a new system allowing solo players to join in on high-level events.

With new raids, Nightfall missions, and Trials of Osiris coming to Destiny 2, Bungie wanted to provide support for not only teams previously created through real-world interaction, but for those solo players who missed out on team events in Destiny.

Destiny 2‘s solution is clan support, which comes with in-game rosters, tools for building fireteams, and even the ability to create custom banners. Two of the custom banners shown included a black widow and a mockingbird, both with short blurbs to let players know what kind of team they are
As for solo players looking to jump into a Raid or two, they can use the Guided Games system to cycle through clans open to new players and read their mission statements, deciding if they seem like a good fit to join for a round. This system seems like a great way to incentivize already formed teams to stick together, while also providing a way to find fill-in players if a regular team member has to drop out or can’t make a scheduled time. Plus, solo players who don’t want to cast their allegiance to one team but still want to experience team events can now pick and choose on an event to event basis.

Destiny 2 will arrive on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 September 8th. A PC release date remains unconfirmed at this time.
