Injustice 2’s super moves hides a secret

Injustice 2‘s super moves put on a pretty great show. Pull one off, sit back, and watch your enemy get pulverized, all without having to lift a finger.

At least, that’s what most people assumed they should do during a super move. Turns out, they were wrong.

As fans have discovered, super moves in Injustice 2 are more than just cutscenes. If you time your button presses just right—as if attempting to land a heavy attack at the exact moment your character in the “cutscene” is landing a hit—you can add some extra damage to your ultimate attack. Conversely, the player getting thrashed can attempt some similarly-timed button presses to defend and take less damage.

Players are still working out the exact numbers and timing, but’s a trick that definitely works. You can see a comparison in the below video made by Injustice 2 player Enkidu.
Injustice 2 is currently out on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. DLC characters will be joining the roster in the coming months, and we recently got a sneak peek at one of the game’s first additional fighters in action.
