There aren’t any built-in cheat codes for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but, as Jeff Goldblum almost said, fans find a way.
YouTuber MrBean35000vr made a video showing off the “Accio Master Code,” a cheat program that runs on the Wii U version of the game. Like the eponymous spell from Harry Potter, the code allows users to summon whatever they want into the game—and in the process, it reveals some pretty fascinating things about how the game works. Be warned, the video includes hacking in several of the bosses and final boss fight, so don’t watch if you want to avoid spoilers.
For example, while Link’s health is capped at 30 hearts, it turns out that his stamina can keep extending far past the visible meter. You just have to hack in a ton of Stamina Vessels to get to that point. Spawning in the Old Man in front of enemies will cause him to run away in fear. It also turns out that Link’s wallet caps out at 999,999 rupees, though it takes a lot of standing around under a sky raining rupees to get to that point.
Should you go too far, the game also has its own way of fixing itself. Summon more entities than the game can handle, and a Blood Moon will trigger, even if it’s not nighttime. This wipes the slate clean, restoring entities to their normal conditions. In other words, the game has a clever way to reset itself coded in, instead of just struggling and crashing.
Outside of cheating your way through the game, though, the Accio Master Code could allow for some pretty interesting creative possibilities. It can be used to summon blocks in a pattern, enemies, and chests with items inside—all the ingredients for users to make their own puzzles and dungeons. You can even summon in a boss for the end, though stage two of the boss fights gets a little wonky.
If you’re confident in messing around with your console and game files, then there are instructions for downloading the code in the description of the video.
